It’s summertime and you know what that means for us here at Fineline Fishing Charters? That’s right, the snook fishing is just about as hot as the heat index on most days. We’ve been catching giants this past week with live croakers, pogies and pilchards at our area inlets. We prefer to rig these live baitfish on a 1/2 to 3/4-ounce jig head. Saltwater Assassin has a pretty good one that works with live baits as well as many of the popular sea shad tail designs that they make. See the photo for an example of the 1/2-ounce model in the chartreuse finish that has been working well for us on recent outings.
Most of the snook are over-slot fish at this time of year, and you can always have a shot at that elusive 40+ inch fish that is the desire of every snook angler along the Space Coast.
