Andrew Berube and Bobby Minotti of Eastern Florida Shark Hunters safely landed and released this 13 foot Hammerhead shark while fishing from the beach last week. It was an incredible day, they landed and released six Hammerheads that day with this 13 footer being the biggest of the bunch. This monster was caught using a cownose ray for bait and paddling it 500 yards out from the beach.
This fish was caught with the setup pictured. A large rod with Accurate 130 reel set at 70 pounds of drag. The main line is connected to a 20 foot 1200 pound mono leader which is attached to an 800 pound cable leader and a 12 oz. spider weight for a sinker on a shock line.
Go big or go home if you want to safely land one of these trophies! If you are interested in targeting one of these epic sharks from the beach they offer charters. For more information you can find them on Facebook or visit their website at easternfloridasharkhunters.com.
