There are a mixed bag of species at the inlets this week. What you catch will depend on what you want to use for bait. Shrimp have been effective when rigged on a jig head or knocker rig when fishing the Port Canaveral area. Bluefish, ladyfish, mangrove snapper, black drum and snook are the species that you can expect to catch. If fingerling mullet are your bait of choice then redfish, snook, and flounder will be the most likely species that you will encounter.
With the fall mullet run now going on anglers can find tarpon, sharks, king mackerel and big jacks following the pods of baitfish down the beaches. Lipped diving plugs like a Rapala Long Cast or X-Rap in the 10 or 12 cm sizes can be very effective too.
In the lagoons there have been more redfish holding tight to the banks in recent days. The area from the NASA causeway north to Peacocks Pocket seems to be one area that has turned on in the last few days.
If anyone is looking to get out on the water, captain Justin and I have a few open days this month. Give us a call at 321-505-8217 and we’ll get out there so that you can catch your next memory!
