We launched our kayaks at long point park and fished around the surrounding islands this afternoon. Two fat Whitening right next to the ramp to start off, headed south around the main island out to the IRL. Caught lots of Jack’s I was using a 2 1/2 “ mullet looking plug and the wife was using live shrimp. Wife worked the mangroves and I stayed farther out in the channels, we both were getting hit with the Jack’s almost on every cast.
In the channel between the islands I had a massive Red follow my plug but turned off when he saw the boat. She picked up two more nice Reds in the channel and I got three nice Spotted trout on the opposite side of the channel on the point. One was a fat over slot, and the other two were slots but they lived for another adventure for someone else.
Also had a five foot Black tip swim right under the kayak.
A great day for sure in the kayak!
