Hope everyone has been fishing at least once this week because the bite has been sporadic. Rising tides and high tides have been producing the best bites in Cape Canaveral through South Patrick beaches. The winds have been bearable but just won’t give up completely, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Fish don’t always like flat calm days; they prefer a light to a moderate chop most of the time. It seems to turn the bite on. This week ahead of us will certainly give us those conditions since the wave forecast is looking a little choppy.
Stick to your pompano rigs paired with the standard sand flea, clam bit, or shrimp bit. Getting your rigs out a little bit further than usual has produced better bites. Just make sure you aren’t throwing them on the sandbars. Sputnik weights this week will be needed due to the strong current and chop we will be seeing. 2oz or 4oz will suffice.
If you are going out on a certain day, give us a call; we will have the daily surf forecast for you! Tight lines.
