My snook and my red from Friday.
My boat has been out of the water for the past week, but I just got it back for the weekend. With the water being super high and lots of tiny finger mullet going through the canals right now, the bite is on! Small 3-4 inch mullet are the best bait for snook, trout, redfish and tarpon. Bigger mullet (5-7 inches) will also work for the tarpon. Live shrimp caught snapper, redfish, and juvenile black drum.
Docks and mangroves both equally held fish, but the water is so high right now that the mangroves are probably your best bet to land a fish. Out on the flats on the Banana, there were small tarpon cruising and definitely eating along with some nice-sized redfish. Tiny mullet worked very well on the flat, too.
I went out Friday evening in the local canals and with my first two mullet caught a top slot snook and a mid-twenty inch redfish. After that I had a tarpon on and a couple more promising hits, but nothing else to the boat. Saturday morning, my dad and I came across a school of snook and a school of reds. The snook weren’t spooky, but wouldn’t eat. The reds on the other hand, were hungry and aggressive, but the dirty water made it hard for them to find our bait.

Thank you for the report, new to the area and want to learn how to benefit from king tide so this report helps me decide where I need to fish tomorrow – particularly with high winds forecast. More importantly I now have a little more confidence in where I aim to go, so it is much appreciated.
