I’m from Slidell, La.
I travel to KSC to work on another program for a month at a time. I was there from Dec -Feb. 1st, I’m currently home in NOLA and will be back down to KSC Feb 10th thru March 1st. I bring my travel rod n reel, tackle box with me but last month with the weather and government shutdown I couldn’t get out and fish. Can someone give me a spot I can pull off of the side of the road and catch a Trout, Snook or Tarpon? I have never caught a Snook or a Tarpon in my life and I’m dying to catch one.
Thanks
Welcome to Spacefish! To target those three species you will probably need to try different areas. The inlets both Port Canaveral and Sebastian Inlet would be your best bet for the snook. For trout, I would wade fish the spoil islands around Sebastian or the Banana River around the docks & mangroves. Unfortunately, our water quality has been poor in the BR area for quite sometime so if you plan to wade fish, I would recommend a set a waders. Tarpon can be hit or miss. Outside of fishing some of the backwater creeks for juvenile tarpon, if you want to target some of the larger fish, I would reach out to one of our local charter captains. They are our Feature Contributors here on the site. These guys can put you on some fish and help you knock the snook & tarpon off your bucket list. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the help!
I’m just trying to feed my addiction.
Here Louisiana I can go out and literally catch hundreds of Trout and Redfish. One thing we don’t have here is Snook and only in summer get Tarpons but you’re really lucky to hook one let alone get one in the boat. I juvenile Tarpon would be awesome.
There’s one guide by y’all I have to get to take me out one day that guy is Peter Deeks. That dude is a beast!
Once again thanks for your help!
