The opportunity is here and the surf fishing has been great! Jensen Beach north to Ft. Pierce Inlet are open, but Martin County south remains closed. Please follow the guidelines! No coolers, blankets, towels or umbrellas, and maintain practices of social distancing. Any appearance that violates these rules will involve warnings. A lot of folks are thankful and will remind you to not blow this opportunity for others.
The pompano hot spots were Jensen beaches, namely Waveland and Normandy. Folks caught 12 to 17 inch pompano. North of the power plant, Middle Cove and Blue Heron offered positive catches, too. The pomps are nailing Blanched fleas and sand flea scented FishBites.
All beaches in Vero are open from 7 am to 10 pm. South Beach Park is another key pomp bite location. You might not hear much about it, but insider reporting is SOLID. Also seldom revealed, the following beaches are doing very well: Avalon [a $2.00 fee ] and Pepper Park at the north end. These sites are several miles north of Ft. Pierce Inlet.
For the best blanched fleas and pompano rigs I suggest going to Inlet Bait and Tackle. I supply the bait and the fluorocarbon pomp rigs. The color of water is powdery blue, therefore the best rigs should have big white floats and white/pink pill floats.
Niko Green fished a beach charter with me and landed a stunning 17 inch pompano on a big white bopper. Troy Brown caught a double header at Waveland in Jensen on the same rig. Early AM, the greenies are showing up and 2 to 4 pound bluefish are pounding them. Two to five pound jacks are working the baits, also. Tides are irrelevant, early AM and late PM are top notch!
Pictured is my 4th generation pompano shirt. Its 50 spf and a SportTec. I titled it “Sultans of Sand.” I have 5 extra large shirts left, one 2x and 1 medium. We did 2 runs and the print is sublimation. Price is $30.00 shipped priority. If interested call me at 561 818 0589 or email me at richvidulich777@hotmail.com.
Pick your fishing days wisely. Pomps on breezy south east winds. Bluefish, mackerel and snook on westerly winds. On flat calm water, search for glass minnows, greenies and finger mullet!
Tight Lines!
