Awesome fishing continues! Things couldn’t be much better fishing-wise here on the Space Coast, with inshore and nearshore have both been producing some nice fish lately!
Early in the morning I have been finding some large schools of 10-15lb black drum as well as some schools of slot sized redfish not far behind. These fish are up skinny bright and early and have really been hanging around the small finger mullet. If you find a shallow flat with deep water nearby and a big line of small finger mullet, the reds and blacks aren’t far behind! The larger fish have been present as well, still holding tight to the deeper edges in about 2.5/3 feet of water.
Nearshore, the snook bite has still been going strong, large live baits, and lipped plugs like the rapala x rap in bone have been working wonders. Hopefully, we will get a steady influence of baitfish soon with the large 100/150lb class tarpon. These fish have really been hanging south around the Sebastian inlet area. Most of these large tarpon are being caught by slow trolling live baits such as greenies, threadfins, and pogies.
As usual, everyone please try to catch and release in the river for future generations!
