snook fishing

We’ve slammed up against the full moon in June and the fish are being fussy like they get every year around this time.

Nighttime anglers seem to still be doing ok but the daytime bite has been much less productive for tarpon, snook, and others that we’ve been getting lately now that it is Africa hot outside. My suggestion is to get out very early or fish at night. The mid-morning to mid-day full moon bite is really bad right now. One bright spot that occurred this week was that I found a school of snook on an offshore wreck. These fish got pretty fired up over the live pogies I brought out to them from the beach. We landed quite a few and lost one to a Goliath grouper. The daytime bite should improve as we get away from this moon phase, now if we can just get rid of this oppressive heat.
