Well Spacefish fans, we’ve entered our winter pattern with the serious cold snap that hit us last week. Unfortunately our inshore water temperatures dropped below the tolerance levels of many of the fish in the Indian, Banana, and Mosquito Lagoons. Over the past two days I’ve seen a lot of dead fish in these bodies of water. Fortunately, the temperatures are moderating and I think we are past the worst of this.
Speckled trout and redfish are responding well to the weather this week and a 4- inch Saltwater Sea Shad or a live free-lined shrimp will get these two species to strike on most days. Bluefish have invaded the near-coastal waters of Port Canaveral and Ponce inlets. Live shrimp or fingerling mullet are the best baits to use for these 1 to 3-pound scrappers.
I’ve had lots of families with kids out over the Christmas break and the smiles on their faces pretty much tell the story of how our days have been. We’ve got great action fishing for anyone looking to go right now. Please contact us for availability if you would like to get out catching and not sweating.
