Black drum are still one of the main species we are targeting in our lagoons this week. Captain Justin and I are finding them schooling on the flats in small to medium sized pods with the recent drop in water temperatures. Tailing activity is best first thing in the morning, as they search for a breakfast morsel our two. Larger schools are holding near spoil islands, drop offs, and channel edges. Fishbites tipped on a soft plastic, cut crab and live shrimp are all effective ways to get these fish to strike.
Speckled trout are another species that we’ve had very good luck with this week. Our customers have been catching 20 to 50″ fish on some of our recent charter trips using Saltwater Assassin 4″ paddle tails or live shrimp.
We are currently booking March and April time frame “Spring Break” charters so if you want to get the kids out during these dates please book something soon before we run out of available dates. You can see what we have open on our web sites reservations page at finelinefishingcharters.com or give us a call (321-636-3728) if you have any questions that we can answer for you.
Let’s go out and catch your next memory!
