We just had one of the most beautiful weeks of the year and the near-coastal fish responded accordingly. Tripletail were absolutely on fire on all of the floating debris in the Canaveral Bight and also out near “D” can during the latter part of the week. These fish were also stacked up on the outermost shipping channel markers at Port Canaveral. Live shrimp or mud minnows rigged on a jighead were about all you needed to get your rod bent on these prehistoric looking fish.
Black drum and sheepshead were also crushing our shrimp on the nearshore wrecks like the Mohican, Peggy Joe, and shrimp boat wreck. Throw in giant schools of spinner sharks that were blowing up our topwater plugs and a scattered cobia here and there following manta rays and you have what we call a “chamber of commerce fishing report.”
Let’s hope that these fish hang around a little while longer so that we can continue to have truly incredible outings for our charter customers over the next few weeks. If you want to join us on an adventure to chase one or more of these species give us a call at 321-636-3728 or 321-505-8217 and we can try to fit you into our schedules.
