Fun fact: Snook are relatively long lived fish, with many reaching 15+ years and some living over 20 years.
A slower mixed bag week on the Indian River Lagoon with a lot of experimenting mixed into the usual inshore pattern. Some time was spent off the normal routine targeting triple tail around channel markers and searching deeper water with the fish finder, but most of that bite stayed quiet.
The more consistent action came from the shoreline. Early in the week, a few solid snook were picked off under docks, with trout mixed in the same areas. The bigger speckled trout, however, showed up more on the open flats rather than tight to structure.
Mainly threw paddle tails, artificial shrimp, and topwater lures throughout the week.
Overall, it wasn’t a heavy numbers week, but there were still quality fish around for those sticking to the basics. Docks for snook, flats for the bigger trout, and moving water where bait was present.
