Good morning all my Sebastian Inlet fishing/birdwatching/sightseeing fans, it’s going to be another “not so good” report due to all the nasty conditions we had all last week, and through the entire weekend. For the most part the entire inlet east of the bridge was pretty unfishable, especially the south jetty where the huge waves were washing up and over the jetty making conditions unsafe to go out there, especially at high tide. Nobody was out there fishing.
The north jetty was also very rough and wet with the huge waves busting up and over the deck, and up through the grates in the center of the jetty, as well as along the shoreline between the jetty and bridge. Sunday when I was down the waves had calmed down just a tad and there were a handful of anglers out there fishing, but nothing was being caught except the catfish that are usually present when it is rough and dirty out there. The water was VERY dirty, and with a lot of seaweed present. There were plenty of finger mullet, just nothing chasing them. The only place I saw, and heard of any fish being caught was back in the back, south side in the t-dock area, there were some nice black drum and sheepshead caught on cut/dead shrimp. Not a lot, just a few. I also did see one angler catch a small undersized snook on the dock using a live majorra, but that was pretty much it for back there. There was one boat I did see west of the t-dock catching some slot snook on live croakers. Like I said, it was pretty slow everywhere.
Well folks, that’s all I can tell you for now, expect the rest of the week to be pretty rainy, windy with brisk onshore winds and still some big surf messing things up. Hopefully by next week things will calm down some so we can get back to “normal”, whatever that might be anymore! Lol. Y’all have a great and safe week!
